Initiation Project - Artists

In the context of the AI & Art project of the University of Luxembourg and Esch2022, we created a music video for Initiation, a song composed and produced by the ThalamusProject.

For the video, the creators used artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to create a cinematic vision of the song’s lyrics from within the “mind’s eye” of an AI. To create this, the authors trained a machine learning model on thousands of images collected online which depict the conceptual meanings of the song’s lyrics.

In the workshop, we will talk about the initial idea of the project, the motivation behind, the challenges during the process of extracting keywords to collect appropriate images, artistic choices, the technical implementation as well as the process of the final edit. We will demonstrate intermediary results of the machine learning process and the visitors will of course be able to see the result. Note: a translation in German will be available.
